About us

The Anglo-Chinese Junior College Chinese Orchestra has been a team of dedicated and passionate young musicians with a goal of promoting traditional Chinese music. They have participated in various events and competitions and in recent years, have clinched two consecutive gold awards in the Singapore Youth Festival.
Our instructors include:

Conductor and Percussion teacher — Mr Shen Guo Qin (SCO Percussionist)
Xuan Yue teacher – Mr Li Bao Shun (SCO Concert Master and Xuan Yue Section Leader)
Tan Bo teacher – Ms Yu Jia (SCO Tan Bo Section Leader)
Guan Yue teacher – Mr Guo Chang Suo (SCO Guan Yue Section Leader)
Cello/Bass teacher – Mr Qu Feng (SCO Double Bassist)

Hi All!

This is a reminder that all of you have to go shopping for your WHITE LONG-SLEEVED SHIRT, BLACK SHOES and TIES! ( SPOT CHECK AKA ATTIRE CHECK IS ON 26TH MARCH 2011!) For your information, the SPOT CHECK is for your shirt, shoes and ties. Please also try to borrow your blazers/skirt/pants also. If you cannot, a tailor/seamstress is coming down on the 2nd April to take measurements.

The following are the various criteria for the above-mentioned items, please MAKE SURE that what you buy matches with ALL of the criteria!

1. WHITE LONG-SLEEVED SHIRT

- Make sure that it is for formal wear.
- It must have buttons, and the buttons must be of the same colour as the shirt.
- It must have a proper shirt collar, NO mandarin collars or any other weird collars. Collars must be of the
same colour as the shirt.
- NO FRILLS/LACE ALLOWED!
- If your shirt has a pocket, but it is covered by the blazers, it is OKAY!
- It must be PLAIN WHITE, no other designs allowed. No patches of colours allowed!
- Please keep the receipt with you, in case you need to exchange or refund!
- If there is woman's cutting, it is OKAY!
- Please make sure that you can tuck in your white shirt too!
- Can go to Robinsons, Dano, G2000 (if you are rich)
- Best shopping centre: JURONG POINT!!!

2. BLACK SHOES

Girls:
- NO stilettos
- Must have a heel, but no thin heels allowed. (If not, you may fall down and sprain your ankle!)
- Rounded front, NO SHARP FRONTS ( If not, you may kill people)
- NO GLOSSY/SHINY SURFACES
- NO STRAPS
- NO BUCKLES
- NO OTHER DESIGNS ALLOWED. IT SHOULD BE PLAIN BLACK!

Guys:
- MUST BE LACED SHOES, NO STRAPS/BUCKLES
- For formal wear
- NO GLOSSY/SHINY SURFACES
- MUST BE PLAIN BLACK, NO PATCHES OF COLOUR

Best place: BATA

3. Tie:

Please try to borrow your ties from your friends from Choir/Student Council/ Debate/ AC Barker friends. If not, please go and buy the ties at the bookshop! It is about $6 to $8.

For girls, you have to wear stockings! Except the cello girls who will be wearing pants instead. Please make sure that the stockings is of the same skin colour!
